Hi @mickvir! This is @ninaeatshere. Such a great experience for the family! The kids probably found it fascinating, it's something that doesn't happen that often and it will surely be a memory that will last for a long time.
A pity about the quality of the telescope, but these are things that you learn with time and practice (or investments haha), but you had to try it to see how well it worked.
Thanks for sharing this experience in the @worldmappin Discord, we are glad to have you there, in many parts of the world it is being difficult to have even a minimal view of this astronomical event. So thank you for sharing!
For any questions, don't hesitate to contact the team on our Discord channel.
Cheers!

They had a lot of fun with it and were excited for the event. They asked me if we could go to a local look out which was where some of the photos in this post came from. It was cloudy that night and they were a little disappointed but we did manage to see Venus on the drive back to our house so I pulled over and we looked up at it.
One of my daughters decided then and there that we needed a telescope and convinced my wife that we had to go to Kmart the next day to try buy one. As we found out it was not great but even through failure we can still have great experiences and this was definitely one of those times.
Have a great day!
It looks like they were very immersed in the experience, that is so cool! I hope there will be another day yet that will let you keep on star hunting.
Big hugs to your family!
