In my Country,
There's no light
There's no water
We all see left as right
Because being right does not matter
The day we signed the papers for our independence
The whole nation celebrated
It's 58 years on now
And we are still in dependence
Our lawmakers have more fights on flights
Than a common man has light for the night
Yet we pay more bills
And everyday we still get killed
The rich man goes for vacation in Kosovo
Whilst on trial for our millions that he stole
But the poor man's default state is to be guilty
Unless the liars in the court room say no be so
And that is after 9 years of detention
Just because poverty does not deserve attention
They said tomorrow we are gonna lead
But first, we all should go to school and read
Now we're out here with our Mscs and PhDs
And are being told that the only job left is to teach
So these days you either make it with your laptop
Or you go and start your own church
I am not a rapper
Neither am I a poet
I am just a writer
Waiting for God's moment.
My country is Nigeria
and i have hope that someday, it would get better.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
