I ask this question because I asked myself the same question when I stumbled upon the same scenario time and time again.
I walked past a gas(fuel) station and there was a long queue because there was scarcity of fuel at that time (it may sound strange to some of you, but it's real. I promise), and I noticed something very disturbing. Literally the tens of people in their cars all had thier heads bent downwards, using thier mobile phones. It would have been OK if just 5 people were using their phones. But a situation where literally every single person on that queue was engrossed in thier phone?? Ay ay ay ay.... They were not making calls, they were probably texting, chatting or whatever.

Another scenario was when I went on a road trip with some friends to a new city to sight-see. While I was looking around, enjoying the beautiful scenery, I immediately noticed that all the others on the bus were on their smartphones. Then the following questions struck me :
- "is reality too boring that we'd rather chat, text, check up on social media, or juicy celebrity gossips than actually see and enjoy our environment and what it's in it?"
- "Are the stuff we see on our phones more fun and exciting than reality itself?"

I was so disappointed and awestruck.
Like, can't we do without our phones for a few minutes or hours and simply enjoy life? Not social media/internet/online life... I mean, real life - precious moments that most times, we never get back.

I'm not saying we shouldn't use smartphones. I'm literally using it right now. I'm saying that smartphones were made to help us enjoy life, not deprive us from living it.
