WOW! I always keep looking for a pole to hoist a flag but its difficult to find an empty pole on this day. I haven't came across such a pole on the edge of a road.
There must be some very patriotic people in your colony who planted a fixed pole here for this occasion. (But then why is there another hole in the middle of the road?)
It would have been better imho, if someone had delivered an invigorating speech instead of reading out from a pre-written piece of paper. But good to see so many residents present there and listening patiently.

And... Yes, He is our Society's President. Though he gave a speech, writing down the points on a paper, he spoke well, giving a tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and also those soldiers who were and are fighting on the borders!.

Okay, so the paper was meant for only reminding about the points. That's a good strategy to organise and structure a speech. I misunderstood it.
