I work in a printing press and in the printing press there are some funny things that go on there. Some illegal stuffs are going on in the press. The manager of the printing press for some reasons was suspecting some workers in the press of using the materials meant for the press for their personal use and making money from it when he is not around.
So he planned that anytime he goes out, I will supervise the press on his behalf secretly and that I should be informing him of any worker if any, who uses the services of press for their personal use when he is not around. I agreed to supervise for him when he is not around, because I don't think it is good for workers to exploit the press. If the press is exploited and it runs out of service, we will all loose our jobs and I don't want to loose my job.
But the problem I had with it was that anytime I supervise for the manager when he is not around and I tell him about any worker's shady deals in the press, he usually tells the worker that I was the one that told him about their shady deals in the press. I did not like it.at all because it can cause bad blood with me and the workers and there can be real negative energy in the press because of this. The first and the last person that I reported to the manager about her shady deals in press, ended up in a real bad blood between us up to the extent that she had to quit working in the press because of it.
So, I saw it has a bad idea to secretly supervise the press for the manager when he is not around. I want to supervise the press when the manager is not around, but I also don't want bad blood between me and the workers.
So What I want to suggest to the manager, is that I do not have any problem supervising, but he should inform the workers that I will be supervising the press when he is not around, instead of keeping it secret. This way, they will see me has a legitimate supervisor, instead of a traitor.
I will like to here your advice about this issue, because I see it has a dilemma, I am going through in my work place?
