While traveling through Arizona we came to Lee's Ferry/ Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. We walked across these suspended metal twin bridges. WOW, they are amazing! The engineering is a sight to see. My kids found these round holes in the floor of the bridge that are 10 feet apart. You can look through the hole which goes all the way through the bridge floor and see the river below. It only took a few minutes before they were stepping and slapping the holes to make a really neat beat.
Had a few minutes so we played and climbed the rocks. These balancing rocks are all over the place. There are countless trails and places to climb, a person could spend weeks here. Also, they have a really nice camping area for your visit.
While enjoying our time we met a biologist on the bridge. He was using radio frequency location equipment to check in on the California Condor. My children peppered him for 30 minutes about the habits, life, reason for near extinction, and how they are being brought back. Home school win!
