Epic post, dude. You just saved me ALOT of time, as I was going to be getting around to this over the course of my posting. My goodness, steemit is basically The Golden Road come to life. I've come to arrive at the same conclusion, the power of building ones' own pantheon. And while I am certainly quite theistic, the works of Joseph Campbell (and many others) play a large part in it.
