On one of our journeys around the UK the family and i came across Birnbeck Pier. A pier that was sadly closed to the public in 1994. Since then, a number of rescue attempts have been made to save the pier from crumbling into the sea.
The pier is located in the sea-side town of Weston-super-Mare.
The pier was built and opened in 1867 and was built to link the mainland with an island just off the Weston-super-Mare coast line.
Without the necessary funding, this piece of history will be lost forever. How can we let this happen?
Are there other pieces of history that are going to suffer the same fate?
Lets hope that their campaign to raise money and acquire volunteers is successful.
Hope you have found these photographs interesting and the posts has got you thinking - it certainly got me.
Thank you for reading.

The pier is really beautiful and it would be a shame if its destroyed. Besides fundraising i think its important that the city council also contributes afterall is a city landmark. It would make me sad to find out in the future that it suffer a bad fate @yvonneyoung
