Did I already tell you that I love traveling?
Maybe not!!
I often think new destinations where is possible to go alone or with friends.
Could be weird but the place which mostly surprises me every time as the first time...
is my home-city where I was born and I used to live: Naples.
At least once per year, I come back there for spending great time with my family and friends.
I usually spent my time with beautiful sunny days, had lunch in front of the sea with blue sky but the last time I stumbled in a real underground adventure!
I wore an orange helmet and with torch I became a real speleologist.
There is a special tourist route where is possible to visit an existing underground city under Naples. To visit this special place is necessary to climb, crawl and walk in very narrow passages.
The visit ends by sailing on a boat on an underground river. Very suggestive!
In 1853, the king Ferdinando II of Bourbon commissioned to Alvino architect
to create a tunnel for military purposes. The tunnel was called: “Royal Gallery”. In this way, in case of riots the royal family was able to escape towards to the sea and the soldiers
to reach the palace to defend it quickly.
in the 80s it should have become a tram way line but this never happened.
For long time the tunnel was abandoned and it started to flood, making this fascinating route possible.
If you plan to visit Italy and you are curious to visit Naples as well, I will be happy to satisfy and help you with further details!
