RE: Video games make us monsters?

in #life5 years ago

Thank you for this post! As a long time gamer I've been subjected to all kinds of judgement, especially when I was very young (now things are quite different, everyone's a gamer and some of the most rich and famous youtubers are actually people who in past years would have been considered nerds ).
Thing is, the beneficial effects of videogames have been proven over and over, not just as a stress relief valve, but also as a way to keep our minds working.
The narrative you're talking about, that videogames somehow instigate violence, comes from a country where there's a gun for every drawer, and they just have to keep selling them - so they try very hard to find reasons why people actually use guns to kill other people. According to their logic, I should be a serial killer by now.

Thanks for your feedback!
I really needed someone to respond to this topic, because it would be close and understandable to him. In the past, I also devoted a lot of time to games and, as you know, was considered a "nerd."
I am truly sorry for the mood that is now unfolding around the gaming industry. I agree with you that this is one of the ways to close the eyes of society on the real problems inside and on the root cause of violence. Each story has its own scapegoat and today it is a video game.
