ANNUAL LEAVE:
Most people work for a year with one goal in mind – Annual leave.
We all have high expectations for that special time of the year. Usually it is accompanied by a Bonus, which gives a little bit of financial relieve. It also means we can spend quality time with our loved ones, more that when we are working. Most important, we will be able to do things a bit different than when we are working, more relaxed more freedom.
That is what we are looking forward to. It does not always happen. Sometimes the bonus is hardly enough to cover up all the financial holes that appeared throughout the past year. We find that we struggle emotionally to connect with our loved ones. We feel uncomfortable with nothing to do, too used to be stressed and working all the time.
Do not mess this up, it only comes once a year, you worked for it and deserves to make the most of it. Always keep in mind that the first two days of your leave are still emotionally connected to your work. Relax and give your mind and body time to adapt. Most people pack the car and chase of the afternoon after work. Try and spend the first two days at home. Plan your holiday in detail, organise everything and pack while you are relaxing.
Ready to leave? Remember – your vacation starts the moment you drive out of your gate. Enjoy the road, scenery, comments and discussions from your passengers. I still do the effort and make “padkos”. Sandwiches, chicken, meatballs, home made sweets, savouries. Enjoying it on the road is totally different than eating it at home. Sing songs together, old fashioned? Yes maybe, but it is one of the reasons our grandparents enjoyed life more. Reaching your destination? First of all; sit down and get a wish list and “what I would like to do” from everybody. Remember that you are not the only one looking forward to a good time. Quality time is not a selfish time; it is a time to give a much as possible so that you can be surprised with what you receive back.
Cherish every day because that is what memories are made of.
MACARONI – Macaroni will not boil over if you add a little bit of Cooking Oil to the water. Add a little bit of oil when draining cooked Macaroni, it will prevent stickiness. If you make a salad with it, was cooked Macaroni in running cold water. The Salad will be nice and loose.
