According to Wikipedia

A fidget spinner is a toy that consists of a bearing in the center of a multi-lobed flat structure made from metal or plastic designed to spin along its axis with little effort.

But I prefer a Rubik's cube as my own 'fidget killer'. I wanted something to kill the monotony of long rides so I bought a Rubik's cube. It is a little under $6, from the popular Chinese online retail shop, Aliexpress.

Rubik's cube is a 3D combination puzzle which you unscramble when it's scrambled.

It's fun trying to get the colors to be the on same side by twisting it till it does. It sounds simple, but it can be pretty tough to figure out :)

Moving on to the trending fidget spinner, the craze of the moment.

Its marketed as something that can
help an individual better focus by granting relief to their fidgeting energy.

It is said to be helpful to people with autism, anxiety and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) . Users spin it as a supposedly stress reliever.

There is no scientific evidence to back this claim though.

Now it's aggressive viral marketing campaign had caught on. Almost every kid now own or wants a fidget spinner.

Teens made $350,000 in 6 months helping fidget spinners go viral

Some schools had to ban the use of fidget spinner as pupils are found to be addicted to it.

Every year a clever marketer tries to sell to us products we don't need, we end up spending money we don't have.

What do you think?

Sort:

I'll admit i broke down and bought one and even though I'm an adult it still feels nice to act like a kid sometimes!

For real? Hahaha. Well, you only live once. You might as well have a blast while at it :)

Why are they called "fidget spinners" when you can't actually fidget with them?

There's an acupressure point just above the intersection of thumb and first finger bones - that will relieve the stress (or is it boredom?) :-)

Boredom killer it is :) Just another BS being sold!

yes, my son every week new pieces.
