When you last went for a run, did you use a fitness tracker? Did you attach your phone to your shoulder and press the start button on Google Fit? Probably.
When you went for a cycle ride, did you decide to sync up your Garmin smartwatch to Strava to ensure that you all of the meters you're climbing are calculated? Probably.
Did you enjoy knowing that your heart rate is optimal, or that you are running a few seconds per mile faster than normal? I hope so.
But every now and again, leave these things at home. Just go for a run, don't bother hooking yourself up, don't bother to check how you were close to your PB. Don't worry if you went 3 1/2 miles or took the wrong turn up a steep hill and ended up "slower" than normal. It doesn't matter. Enjoy the scenery, all of the sounds around and the ability to simply be yourself, unencumbered.
