A while back I purchased some products from Purehaven Essentials from a consultant on Facebook. It was during a benefit for a woman, whom I did not know, who was fighting cancer. I was happy to get to try some of the line while also helping someone going through what I went through some 6 years ago.
Purehaven is a line of non toxic products ranging from bath and body to household cleaners and skincare to cosmetics. The even offer products for your pooch. These products are made in their certified organic facility in the USA and their promise is "To offer safe, effective, and trustworthy products without harmful ingredients."
This is a company where you can become a sales consultant and hold 'in home' parties or parties online on Facebook and other social media sites. So to me, this makes the products seem somewhat expensive when I know that if I had a party I could get them for less......but the hassle of a party.....ugh, lol! In my "younger days" I loved having all the in home parties at my house. Candles, decor, skincare, you name it I had them all. I even sold Mary Kay (cringe at the toxins now) and handmade baskets (not handmade by me) back then. Now my 49 year old self just doesn't get that eager to clean my house from top to bottom and whip up a feast to ask a group of my friends to come spend money so I can get free stuff. 😉
Ooooooooookay.....sorry, I went a little off of my train of thought there, lol. The products I purchased were the shower gel, dream cream, Hyaluronic acid, cheeky bronzer and lip balm.
First up is the lemon/lime shower gel. The top ingredient in this is aloe Vera juice which I love! No water in here which is great. Unfortunately, that is where the excitement ended for me with this product. The lemon lime scent in this smells like it should be cleaning your hardwood floors instead of your body. The smell along with hot shower steam just took my breath away. I used it twice and that's it so I really can't attest to the performance of the product. If you like a strong citrus scent, you may like this. It just wasn't for me. Price is $17.95 for 16 oz.
Next up is the Dream Cream with vanilla and chamomile. This has a very lovely scent of vanilla and very soft citrus. It is a non greasy cream made with, aloe (1st ingredient), Shea butter, and sunflower oil to name a few. Now, what makes this non greasy is the zinc oxide in it. Here is where it goes downhill for me.
There isn't much slip to it going on and it feels like a much thinner Desitin baby ointment, the color disappears while rubbing it in and it dries down matte, non greasy and skin is left nicely hydrated. It's a really cool concept and performs like it claims, however, I personally can't get past the feel. I actually prefer something with more slip to it. Other than that it's an A+! Price is $15.95 for 6 oz. *Update product seems to have been reformulated and now has water as the first ingredient.
The Hyaluronic Acid wasn't really my cup of tea either. Great ingredients, but the smell was a put off, very medicinal. The smell fades away fairly quickly, however, I just never reach for this serum. I didn't feel it was doing enough for my skin and I have other serums that wow me that I reached for instead. Price $23.95 for 1 oz.
Now, onto a couple of their color cosmetics. Cheeky bronzer comes in a twist up tube and is in cream form which is right up my alley. For mature skin cream products are the way to go. They moisturize and aren't as likely to look cakey like a powdered bronzer and give a subtle glow to the skin. I am using this product currently, however, I can't say I love it. Again, super ingredients but, performance is so so. It's chunky as you can see in the swatch. It has very nice color but has zero staying power. You can literally blend it right off your face if you aren't very careful. Price $9.95 for .75 oz.
Lastly, I have the lip balm in the color watermelon. This has a slight tint of color but, can be built up a little. It is very shimmery, moisturizing and wears off quickly. Great ingredients but, again, I wasn't impressed. Price $9.95 for .15 oz
Sorry for the "downer" of a product review. I wanted to LOVE these products but, unfortunately I did not. I have tried a lot of non toxic products with great organic ingredients that are as luxurious as high end department store products toxins and have great results. I think these are just okay. My humble opinion of course.
Have you tried any Purehaven products? Let me know your thoughts. I do see that they have updated their packaging and have added some new products. I can't speak for those. The products here are still part of the line although they are in different packaging with a new logo.
As always thanks for reading!
Stay healthy and BE YOU tiful!
