Natural Vs 'Unnatural' Birth | My C Section Story | PART 2 Finale

in #lifestyle7 years ago

So lets go in the juicy details. As I mentioned before I knew this was the way to go. I had set up the special date with my doctor and boy, was I ready for it! I admit it, I can be an anxious person but I’ve never felt more sure in my life about anything else than this day.

I was informed it was preferable to sleep over in the hospital the night before to get setted in, get used to things, pick your desirable suite (from standard to an upgrade to even a luxury apartment and that is exactly where we stayed at), pick your meal options (from standard to an option to get it delivered from a nearby upscale restaurant) and get some of the results done prior. May I tell you, that evening we dined like kings and didn’t feel much worry. In a situation when you can’t really control the outcome it really appreciated if you are treated good by the staff and have an option to spoil yourself a bit and the key is to just ‘let go’, mamas.
Next morning me and my partner woke up bright and early, full of determination to be done with it! Get this baby out safe and sound and start this parenting thing going! That is.. until I was injected with some kind of gel in my vein which made me super dizzy. I thought ‘oh damn’, this will suck after all, huh? But no, in 30 minute time the bad symptoms passed and I was on a roll again. I think this happened because i had a negative blood group, an optional procedure. Before I was informed I had to place myself in the operation room to get the epidural shot in me and my husband’s wedding song come up the radio and that moment right then and there was the most beautiful moment of my life. I was crying tears of joy.. when I always thought I would be crying tears of fear. Boy, was I grateful for this experience. I was told before by my family member how epidural shot will hurt and how scary it will be giving the reason that if shot in the wrong area it can be dangerous however it really felt nothing more than a sting of a bee, is it funny or what? Then my husband and my mother was invited in (I picked both of my closest people with me) and the games began. I was strapped and prepared for the operation but it didn’t phase me because I had my husband by my side, he placed a relaxation meditation music next to my ear and started whispering sweet nothings in my other ear. How was this possible, that I was not scared not one bit? It was all so surreal. Unfortunately after some time I blacked out, probably due to the anesthetics (never cared much to find out later on, my husband and mother said it happened in that moment when the baby was being pulled out) and next moment I know my babygirl is in my husband’s arms well and safe and I’m apparently being stitched together at that moment, my mother by my side now. My husband was ordered to bring our girl to our room so she can start settle in and soon I would follow. Honestly it felt like forever yet next moment i know I was in my husbands arms and my babygirl climbing up to my breast and nursing within few minutes time.

Main key to a positive experience :

  • Confidence. Be aware that this is what you chose (or if you didn’t have a choice that these are the cards you’ve been dealt with) and be proud of it. Know that all will go well because you are in safe hands. Positive self talk yourself if needed. Enjoy the moment and ‘let go’.
  • Be verbal. Ask your doctor about any concerns as well as let him/her know how he/she can make this the best experience for you. Do you want skin to skin contact with your baby right away? Do you want relaxing music in the background? Do you want multiple beloved ones around you? If by any chance you feel anxious being awake is it possible to put you to sleep right then and there? Don’t feel embarrassed to talk any of your worries out and guide your doctor to a plan B or C.

In continuation the next two to three recovery days were hard personally because it was an abdominal operation in no matter what way you put it, the tip is the sooner you try to physically walk the faster your recovery will be. I know many mom’s who recover fast and easy but I found it harder than imagined yet even then I wouldn’t change the experience for the world.
At the end of the day c section can have ups and downs however if you are planning on doing a c section operation just know that it can be a absolutely magnificent experience and i wish it will be for you as it was for me.
