First of all I introduce myself, I’m María Eugenia, I love technology and especially Linux Operative System, don’t matter distributions, because as my master says, Linux is Linux.
I wanted to start doing tutorials for people who want to learn and understand this operating system, however, I thought I would take the opportunity to comment about my experience in this area. Dominated specially by men.
My first knowledge of Linux was many years ago. Then I started working with an expert in Linux, my master, known as Yoda, a man that I really appreciate by his teaching and dedication.
I confess that it has been difficult to develop in this competitive world, I have several years working in the operational area, doing projects in many companies, and always meet people who ask you:
_Where is the "boy" who will install the servers?
Or comments like:
_Ah ... I thought you were a "mouse technologist", because there are many!
Seriously?
Unfortunately, on other occasions, I made "invisible" in the many meetings with the technology staff or that I call "the
war of the wisest" until I say my opinion and they realize that I didn’t there only to listen or to take notes.
If I wore a plaid vest and big glasses, maybe it would help me not to see myself as "a mouse technology" lolol, I think is not a good idea.
In fact, there are many stereotypes in this world, I confess that this has affected me on some occasions, especially when it comes to looking for employment, fortunately I have a defect that sometimes becomes in something positive I’m extremely "stubborn"; so I rarely give up".
I am aware that a few girls choose to study technology, in fact in my promotion 80% were men, which did not bother me at all. However, it's more than proven that excellence does not define by the gender.
I can only encourage all those girls who chose this career, to continue with that they love, and these experiences help them to be better every day.
"Remember that nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent." Eleanor Roosevelt.
Let's think carefully before judging people. Perhaps, by giving him the opportunity to demonstrate his skills, we get a big surprise.
Thank you very much for reading ... In the next post I will make some tutorials about linux.
