How to Install LinuxMint in your microSDCARD

in #linuxmint7 years ago

Starting from the interest to find a safe place to store the wallet offline, I started looking for information whether to install os linux on external hard drive or flash.

But both have a size that is easily visible. I am trying to experiment with my unused mini sdcard.
I am using a 32GB sdcard in this experiment.
Initially, I tried to install Tails Os, but at the time will move from flash to sdcard failed boot.

And, because there is a failure like this I also undo the intention to wear Tails Os.

I searched for information again, and my choice fell into LinuxMint Sylvia. Lightweight and has a look and function that is very easy to learn for beginners like me.

I have been using LinuxMint for a month using Mini SDCard, and I do not find any constraints in its operation and have never encountered an error.
The boot process is very fast and of course does not require large capacity in the installation.

Ok, for those of you who are reading this my article, of course have the same problem with me first.

So let's start how to install.

Equipment needed:
1.Mini SDCARD (please try different capacities according to yours)
2.LinuxMint Sylvia 18.3.ISO
3.flashdisk to create a Live CD

  1. uNetbootin application
4.and of course Computer or laptop

Once all is available, please create a Live CD using uNetbootin (Tutorial please searching)

Once done, please restart your Computer or Laptop and boot to Live CD that has been created earlier.

Follow the instructions for entering Linuxmint LiveCD.

After successfully logging in, there will be a shortcut on the desktop to install Linuxmint.
Please enter your Mini sdcard, mandatory format to * fat32
Click the LiveCD shortcut
1.Type installation select: Something Else
2.Click your sdcard partition, (my sdcard's initial partition is / dev / sda, and it may be different with yours) you can find your sdcard name at the start of the sdcard termount. Then click on new partition table (make sure you select the partition appropriate)
3.Click the sdcard name to create the filesystem partition and then click the "+" button and adjust the size of the system partition you want to allocate. This is for the installation of the application later. Select mount point "/" and ext4 journaling system.
4.buatlah also for the partition "swap" and "Home"

After creating the partition, make sure the device for boot loader installation is fixed to your sdcard.
Then click install now.

Wait until the installation is successful.

When finished and booted, Select Time zone, keyboard layout, user detail.

and Done.
Enjoy a portable and powerful small Linuxmint.

All risks during the installation attempt are beyond the author's responsibility.

thank you
