Emotional, probably. But not the way you think. I believe they're upset that Ifemelu was 'wayward.' African men much.
The kid was fine. Obinze was very present in her life and the wife was there too.
I dont want to go for confession next Saturday so i wont lie that the idea she was 'wayward' never crossed my mind :P

i am just lucky to have sisters whose POVs i use in crosschecking and questioning myself.
for the kid, well, i dont want to imagine growing up without mommy and daddy's cohesive unit. Obinze's "performing marriage" wasnt much of it anyway.
The novel is too real it made a lot of Nigerian men angry. Chimamanda spelled out what they didn't want to hear. LOL
I'll read it again whenever I have the time. The prose is too fine.
