These 3D pictures are formally know as lithophanes, they were first introduces in the 1800s by Baron Paul de Bourging, they were originally created using porcelain but today we can get the same effect using mat white plastics. The process is achieved by some parts of the plastic protrudeing in or out further than the back ground. Although you can make out shapes on the modle, When light hits it from behind the effect is a near crystal clear black and white photo.
Almost any image can be turned into a 3D photograph using this process and i do intend to start offering these as a service on peerhub for steem or steem backed dollars, simply send me your image and address and ill have it shipped to you, But for now just hit me up on https://steemit.chat/home if you would like a light activated 3D photograph :)

Great technology!
So this is like the modern 3D printing using Victorian technology. Truly in the spirit of Steampunk. I love it😁
