Toward the end of his speech, he read out a (yet to be finalised wording of) a Declaration of Australia for Australians. The concept of three stories - indigenous, British and migrant populations, twined together - indigenous already there - the British introduced the governing structures and the migrants have enhanced our whole society. Or concepts to that effect. I am waiting for the Don Dunstan Foundation to send me the actual words as I was moved and wiped away a tear of two.
That we keep the songlines alive - wish I could recall all the words which raised goosebumps.
