As a marketer and someone who used to live in Melbourne(!) - sorry, but no. I say sorry because I do not want to offend you - the M is very MCC/MCG and the G is Yabbadabbadoo!! They don't mesh, probably on purpose, but there is too little synergy.
I would represent the M of Melbourne as the dynamic city and the G of Gentleman as being the aspirational aspect - especially if it is a club of which I want to be a member!
Also, if the business is called 'Melbourne Gent', then that is what is below the logo.
If it is 'Melbourne Gents', same thing. Your apostrophe is not needed.

Hi ebryans, thank you very much for your comment. I really appreciate your feedback. I forgot to mention that my client is super happy with the design. Well, I guess that it's up to you, because this is just your opinion. However I always listen to others and I will try to be better next time! :)
