Tales of a restless suitcase #3: Bustling Patong NYE

in #longexposurephotography7 years ago (edited)

I know you probably think this post is way overdue. I'm late for the party, right? I agree but indulge me though. It is still January and I'm inspired to share these scenes at Patong Beach during New Year's Eve.

This first photo is my entry to #longexposurephotography contest hosted by @juliank.

For those of you who have travelled to Phuket, it will come to no surprise that Patong Beach is the party district of Phuket. Home to Bangla Road, there is no shortage to any kind of entertainment. Live bands, cheap beers, Muang Thai fights, and the NSFW kind of enjoyment, you name it, it is in Patong.

For this post, however, I'm sharing with you a more wholesome Patong Scene. During Christmas and New Year's Eve, various hotels/resorts would offer buffet dinner and in-house entertainment to their guests. Despite this, I notice that there are still many people who rather go to the beach, rent a lounge chair, and watch the festivities with sand on their feet.

That is exactly what we did. It was fun to see different nationalities welcoming the new year with beer on hand and wonder in their eyes. Everyone was in a festive mood and the ambiance is really lively. Of course, being in Thailand, flying lanterns also dotted the night skies, competing with the marvelous firework displays.

Sharing with you some more photos from that magical night.

was the move to Phuket simple for you?

The medical tourism industry is interesting to me. I'm assuming you like helping people and have fun. These pictures look awesome. I wonder if you'll come to the states or return to PH. Either way, i hope you're having a great time in Phuket.

The move itself was seamless as the company hired me out from the Philippines. They arranged everything for me. Well, Medical tourism is inching it's way to mainstream tourism and becoming more popular each year. I take care of foreign nationals coming to Phuket to have work done. With that, you meet all sorts of people; all walks of life which keeps the job interesting.

Should I decide to move one after this Phuket chapter, I would probably consider another country aside from the states and PH. But haven't thought about it for now, Phuket is easy so will probably stick around here.

I hope all goes well with you and your friend though. I sucks to lose friends. I feel that as I grow older, it is more difficult to establish solid friendships.

business and tech are moving at such a rapid pace, we don't really know where it will take us.

I wonder if you would like to settle in Thailand. But of course, that's a questions that is hard to answer. I still need to travel more.

And thanks! Hope you have a great day ahead. I'm about to sleep.

Amazing scenes!

There seems to be many Filipinos in Phuket? I stayed at Baba House Hotel and one of the ladies at the front desk is from QC. She seems to be very happy living in Phuket, as the hotel is not near the busy beaches, but closer to Central Festival Mall.
I missed NYE in Phuket because I left that evening to return to Japan. Looks like it was a terrific time there!

hi @steventemplar, thank you for stopping by. Yes, there are many Filipinos in Phuket. Most are teachers and musicians while a number work in the hospitality industry. :) I'm glad you were able to visit Phuket. I hope you had a great time whilst here.

Greet photos

thank you kuya @dante01 ^_^

You're most welcome. Keep it coming :)
