Back in September, I had gone to the feed store to get a-one-single bag of feed and came home with a box full of 15 baby chick, because... well... babies. Over the next few weeks, we noticed four of the ten "Americaunas" were growing WAY faster than the others, leading us to believe there was some meat breed running amuck in their DNA. This little gal started showing signs of that "meat bird wobble" when she walks so we watched her for possible hip dysplasia.
Well, the cold weather came and she started looking uncomfortable. So now she's indoors, getting warm Epsom salt baths, hip massages, homemade food to promote healing and liberal doses of snuggles.
She'll get better, or she won't. Either way, she'll be comfortable, safe and loved.
Now with a full belly, it's time for a lap nap. The laundry and dishes can wait. <3
