Well, the distractions may have been not the same as we face nowadays, but on different levels. Just think about health issues alone. People faced imminent death with even the most minor thread to their health (compared to now) - this is quite some stress, right? In general, there were many things distracting people from the path of Love, because they had no safety on the most basic levels. Now as (most of us) have safe homes, something to eat and a good medical system behind us, we invented other distractions. These are not only from the media, but also on a psychological and emotional level. Even spirituality has become a factor to overstimulate our nervous system. When we are (relatively) safe on the 3rd dimensional plane, we start to focus on 4th dimensional things and meet energetic information, that distracts us from the path of Love. Also the never ending quest for more wisdom and enlightenment adds more inputs, that our nervous system and inner child have to digest. So it seems, as if it´s always as easy or difficult as we make it (for ourselves and for the society we live in). In the end, it´s a question where you put your attention on and if this is providing you with peace and love or just more information that will need time to integrate.
