Well, congratulations and well done. I didn't get whether or not you were hoping the painting would become more than just a way for her to feel less lonely, so I won't say, "Well played." However, you might deserve it anyway for not even thinking about it. :)
And taking two weeks off from Steemit to be with your wife is probably a good thing, too. And now you'll have more subject matter (her) to write about. (Until she gets sick of it. Then you just keep doing it. :)
