My Mama kept my Dolly from when I was a little girl. She made this little babe for me over 30 years ago and she was always my favourite. So I asked for her to keep her for me. She gave her back to me recently and I washed her up and started working on her to give to Sequoia-Rose (by baby girl) for Christmas.A collaboration with my Mama over thirty years in the making. It makes my heart swell to think of her at around my age making her from scratch for me and all the beautiful little details in her.
I cut her bangs and added some other colours of wool (from my granny’s knitting bag I wanted to have some pieces of her also in this little dolly, she just last recently and Sequoia adored her). Then I looked up cabbage patch kid faces cause I wanted her to stay the way she was intended to be. I didn’t want her to have the face of a Bratz doll or a Barbie... but a cabbage patch baby. My Mom was so pleased with how she turned out. .
I got her little dolly cloths at the local Salvation Army thrift shop and MCC. (They were new born cloths) and that little sweater was hand made by someone with so much love and care I’m so grateful I scooped it up for 50 cents. Three generations of love in this little dolly I can’t wait to see what Sequoia-Rose will do with her and how she will add her own loving flare to her one day for her little ones maybe. ❤️
