The Gift of Giving

in #love8 years ago (edited)

The total of my meal was $11.33. Very interesting I thought. Behind me was a woman who was also ordering. As I was filling my drink and walking back to the counter, I noticed that her meal was ready before mine. Must be a quick, small meal I thought. I then received my meal and then walked to my seating area.
As I was getting to my seat, I felt a sense of purpose. I had this slight sensation as I was walking towards the restaurant but it became much more noticeable as I sat down. I quickly scanned my surroundings as I normally tend to do and I began to eat.
I then noticed that I had forgotten to grab some napkins. As I was walking back to my seat, I noticed that the lady was no longer at hers. I sat back down and continued my meal then minutes later I hear her come out of the restroom. As she is walking past me, I notice a large red stain on the back of her pants. She seemed embarassed as she was walking and she sits back down. Then, all sorts of emotions begin to surface for me..She shouldn't have to live like this I thought. I can't just sit here and not do anything about this situation. My heart was feeling her distress. I began to lightly weep. I had to take action!
I pulled out my wallet and gathered $11. Another sign! I put my half eaten meal back in the bag. I walked up to her and without a word, handed her the money. Why thank you sir was her sudden response. I then offered her the rest of my food and she gratefully accepted. I simply said take care of yourself and went on my way.
As I was walking away, I could see her emotions and gratitude come to the surface. I walked outside and I began to weep even harder. I was releasing her pain and anguish and simultaneously I felt so much gratitude for this opportunity to give without even thinking twice. Even when I have almost had just enough for myself, a grand lesson I have learned is that the more one has, the more one has to give. In return, you are abundantly, universally blessed. I gave my heart and kindness to her because I care about You. I care about Humanity. I care about our precious world. I <3 You
