What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear someone has died? I guess that question is vague let me narrow it a little, what's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear you've lost someone? The truth is I've lost a number of people in the past but I can't readily remember what came first, It's usually nothing at first then the rest comes in a rush, the denial - refusal to believe, then acceptance - realization that that person is really gone. The next things are different feelings - love, pain, sadness and the human mind doesn't make it easy for one to deal with such news, it can actually feel all those and more at the same time or in quick successions.
Being around people I've see so many reactions-
There's the outburst of tears and incontrollable crying.
There's the hysteria that comes with either refusal or acceptance.
There are those who keep themselves occupied so as not to deal with the feelings.
And many more, some people say its harder to deal with because they didn't get to say good bye while others say saying good bye made it harder to deal with, but one thing I can assure you it no matter the outward reaction loosing someone is never an easy thing to deal with, goodbyes or no goodbye it never makes it easier. I guess a little closure always help anyways.
Such goodbyes and the the sense of loss that comes with it are inevitable but the certainty of it never makes it easy.
