...if I speak in diverse tongues and have no love, I
am like a resounding cymbal
Love Is Good
Love your neighbour as yourself is a popular slogan. It is a common saying and a biblical injunction but as simple as it sounds, it is easier said than done. Many people hear it, say it, but end up doing just the opposite. Imagine what our world would look like where everyone loves each other and there is no hate.
Why are people finding it very difficult to love others? No matter how this massage is preached, you seem to see a lot of people just doing the opposite. I have personally observed that it is a lot more difficult to love than hate. Any wonder people just hate without asking.
Who Is Your Neighbour?
This is a very important question because it is the focal point of this write up. Your neighbour in the context of this article is everyone else minus you. It now means that you have a great number of neighbours to love. Do not laugh because it is real. Even me that is posting this massage is your neighbour.
It is important we state these facts because as simple as they may look, a lot of folks find it difficult to comprehend.
If everyone believes and does this common saying, there will be no wars. Yes, there will be no antagonism, no strife, no fighting, no cheating, and the count of evil it could eliminate from our society is endless. Can you imagine a world without these ills? You can call it an utopia world but it is possible. All it takes is to shun hatred and embrace love for all people of all creed, ethnicity, race and religion.
lead me to love
Why Is It Difficult?
Selfishness! You heard me right. If everyone drops selfishness, it will be very easy to love everyone as oneself. The reason is because majority of the people love themselves. If then this is true, it should not have been difficult to see a lot of people who love others as themselves.
There is also a percentage of the world population who hate themselves. Is this true? Yes absolutely true. When you hear about people who commit suicide, you will know that they first hate themselves before they conceive the thought to kill self. You can not convince a self hater to love you or others. I think this is an effort in futility"
Love is one of the most important tool for human preservation. All the wars and shouts of wars you hear in the world is born out of lack of love. Love is a very important factor in differentiating humans from most other lower animals.
Conclusion
Let us show some love to the world. This we will achieve by first loving ourselves and our immediate neighbours. Love is so much needed in our world today to counter the high level of hatred that is permeating the fabrics of it.
Finally I will leave you to ponder on this quote:
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1

This is so true!!
Such a simple concept to love your neighbor as yourself. But like you said - selfishness!!
We often hear other terms like "charity starts at home". These terms sound "good" but they break down everything we stand for!! If the whole world actually cared about others and not only ourselves I can only imagine how amazing it would be!!
Highly unlikely that will happen though seeing, as humans, we are very self-centred 😔
Sharing the love so upvoted 😁

Thank you for stopping by. The world needs more lovers than haters. The later is already in great supply. I followed you.
Who exactly can you call your neighbor? this question has been lingering on my mind for long. Can you consider your enemy to also be your neighbor? i will appreciate answer that will help me.. Thank
Enemies are the ones u made so u can convert them to friends. Those that hate you, you can love back. That said, you still have to be careful because thy may not love u as you love them. Let them continue. Someday, they will get tired and think twice.
Thanks..
I would love to live in that world
We all will love to live in such world but then we all have to put effort to create that world because no one wil do it for us
