Love it or Shove it challenge

in #loveitshoveit7 years ago (edited)

A self proclaimed "the last beacon of hope for the everlasting success of the western civilization", or in short @schattenjaeger has nominated me for this lame challenge. Why not have some fun and do it gaming style (you all know real life is overrated). I will name 5 games that made me a gamer for life and 5 games that made me lose all hope for human kind. There are many more that are eligible to get inside this top 5, but these are the first ones that I could think of.

Top 5

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
This is hands down my favorite RPG. This is a Steampunk clashed with magic theme done right. Character creation in this game is epic, all the different routes you can take your character are limitless. If you wanna be a mage that carries a derringer gun, you can be that, you wanna be a half ogre inventor, sure go ahead, wanna be a Halfling gunslinger with an army of clockwork spiders, hell yeah. Your imagination is the only limit this game has. This is Troika games greatest achievement.

Fallout 2
Who knew the life in a postapocalyptic America could be so much fun. Original Fallouts had an aura of greatness around them, 20 years later Fallout became one of the best gaming franchises, if Bethesda plays their cards right it might become the most popular franchise ever.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3
How many hours of life and possible girlfriends were lost while playing this game. Too many to count. A true evergreen game.

Knights of the Old Republic 2
The vanilla Kotor was great, a Star Wars at it's best, but this sequel surpassed it in every way. Dark and more layered characters, a true replayability in every meaning of that word. I finished the game 4-5 times with different characters, you don't do that with any game.

Planescape Torment
This is one of those narrative based games where action was present, but it was never a main source of intrigue. The main intrigue was that your character is immortal and you have a floating skull as a companion and you found yourself in a strange alien world where a floating talking skull is not even a top 10 of weird things found there.

Bot 5

Daikatana
From the clutches of John Romero, a human with bad coding skills, came this uninspiring piece of shit game. Unlimited gray color that transcends space and time and robotic frogs will drain every ounce of energy of once a potent human being.

Sacred 3
First two sacred games were great Action Role Playing Games, dare I say a top 10 of every ARPG list. Then this disgrace came out, a third child of a game just like in every family turns out to be the worst.

Duke Nukem Forever
This long forgotten hero of First Person Shooters needed to have an epic comeback. Gearbox Software games had something different on their mind, to ruin once a great role model for every child out there, and they did ruin him. Such a shame.

Alien Colonial Marines
There were many bad Alien games over the years but none came even close to Alien Colonial Marines, you did not guess it, the game was made again by Gearbox Software games, or a company that loves destroying your hopes and dreams.

Sims
I never liked this franchise and I never will. If you're a Sims lover get triggered :)

That's it. If you wanna join this challenge use loveitshoveit tag and get freaky with it.

Sort:

Hahahaha, Daikatana. I haven't thought of that game in years. I remember the fucking charade really well. Everybody was looking forward to it.

And everybody was disappointed.

Fun times.

We all hoped it would turn out great.
"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment" said by some nameless Warhammer40k hero.

Hey @moon32walker, thanks for doing your own twist on this challenge, even if you thought it was lame. ;)

Things we do for the community ;)
