I've been at this place before. I had deja vu in the dream, and also when I woke up. I was at some place that reminded me of either Chuck E Cheese's or a casino with a checkered floor that contained red and white squares. My brother and I were running from someone, hoping they wouldn't find us. My brother hopped onto these lamps that went from the ground to upside down on the wall.
I tried jumping on one to another, trying to go from the wall to the ceiling, but I couldn't. These people grabbed me and this man started saying a word in some language. "______, that means goodbye. Say goodbye, Carter." As they are holding my arms tightly and preventing me from escaping, I glanced at his hand. He pointed his finger right at my heart and touched it. I felt my heart stop in my dream and then I woke up.
As I wake up, I see a binary-like hallucination. The numbers 0 and 1 were in rows. 0s had a lime green color, and 1s had a dark blue color (I love those two colors combined, which I find weird.) I started to have this "life is a simulation, everything is fake. The media is making us make their reality a reality (I said this because I watched a video the night before.)" mindset. I was a little freaked out for a bit but I calmed down. I couldn't go back to bed for at least 40 minutes.
I'm assuming it was Hypnagogia. I've had this happened to me before. I woke up from a beautiful lucid dream and I saw a fishing net-like wave of colors, they looked like grids.

The hypnogogia you have is so cool. Mine used to be like cartoon images flashing across a screen, but since doing DMT it's more fractal-like. I only get it on the way into sleep, never on the way out. I keep wanting to watch the fractals turn into a dream, but so far I always lose consciousness first.
In a way, reality is made up of 1's and 0's. Everything is matter (1) and space (0) in infinite combinations. Maybe you're catching a glimpse of the true nature of reality when you're in that state between wakefulness and dreams.
Also, it's really f*ing terrifying that your dream character can just touch your heart and make it stop.
