Before any calculators and computers, traders or cashiers used this tool. Yes, yes, this is the keys of an old counting machine. I do not know the exact function of this keys, but I guess these red buttons were used to erase the numbers already filled in.
I met this old calculator in the Gudang Koleksi, a cafe on Jalan Bondongan, Bogor, West Java. This cafe is decorated with antiques. Maybe it meant to evoke visitors' memories but I do not remember anything when I was there.

Sebelum ada kalkulator dan komputer, pedagang atau kasir biasa memakai alat ini. Ya, betul, ini tombol dari mesin hitung sebesar mesin tik. Saya tak tahu persis fungsinya, tapi aku duga tombol-tombol merah ini dipakai untuk menghapus angka yang terlanjur diisikan.
Aku bertemu mesin hitung tua ini di Gudang Koleksi, sebuah kafe di Jalan Bondongan, Bogor, Jawa Barat. Ini kafe yang dihiasi benda-benda antik. Mungkin maksudnya untuk membangkitkan kenangan tapi aku tak teringat apa pun ketika berada di sana.
