Few things inspire childhood nostalgia quite like the delightfully fluffy perfection of a dandelion puff.
They’re tiny reminders to dare to dream – to boldly ask for whatever it is you desire – to believe you're deserving, no matter how grand your request.
In their unsent state, each pristine orb represents untarnished possibility – like empty envelopes, yet to be addressed, awaiting the earnest pleas they’ll someday carry.
As a child, I loved the idea that each seed had the power to receive and magically transmit my little daydreams; all I had to do was make heartfelt wishes and send them into the wind with a determined exhale.
However compelling the 'wish' component – to me, they were more than simply couriers of hope. Being acutely tactile, they also appealed to my whimsically curious nature.
I was drawn in by their texture, imagining what it might feel like to climb inside – dreaming of being tiny and lightweight enough to rest against their downy softness – maybe even hitch a ride to see where all those wishes might land.
Now, at 42 – though I may be ever so slightly less inclined to wistfully ponder – macro-photography affords me the kind of intimate views I could only dream of when I was little.
Even if only a visual approximation, I’m granted the wonderful perspective of being inside, gazing outward through a canopy of feathers.
Perhaps – even when my hair matches their silvery wisps – I'll still be quietly whispering into their precious plumes, with the easy optimism of an innocent child who still believes…
…no wish is too great; no dream too lofty – for the humble dandelion to carry.

I loved that movie! I actually did a whole macro series of a tiny ant that seemed to be 'glitching out'. I placed a tiny figurine my friend had sent me (because he knew I loved macro) next to this lil' bitty ant. Here's the best from the series of resulting images. :)

I have to admit that of all the pictures I've seen done here I never imagined that something so simplistic as a dandelion would win my heart out, I think you've just spoken for the majority of the people in this world, we can all relate to those dandelions and whisking off a many of wishes. Beautifully done.
Isn't it so true?! Who among us hasn't at least once sent a breath full of wishes into the wind, carried by these delightful seeds? ;)

Wonderful photos Zippy! I have the same issue right now, life's being very time demanding lately, not much energy left to get really into the "flow" and being creative. But hey, every time one has to exhaustively climb a mountain, one can sail down effortless and just enjoy the view :)

These are magical. I love taking pictures of dandelions. People probably think it is crazy to see a big tattooed guy laying down on the lawn taking pictures of these things. Here is a shot I got with one of my new lenses.
I just saw that you took these with your phone too! That is awesome. I need to find a set of lenses for my stupid phone since I got rid of my iPhone and it is hard to find anything good for my LgV30. But these shots you took are amazing.
