does magic exist?

Hello all!
I was pondering the other day on the place of magic in our world, and if it holds any strength or if it is only a word to describe that which we do not understand. Far be it from me to say what is what, I don't think we are fully capable of expressing with words the more intangible things in life, but I have had a few thoughts on the subject would like to mention them for those who are interested.

'There is no such thing as a magic rock.'

I have heard this statement throughout my existence, and I've come to the conclusion that it is simply inaccurate.
I believe this phrase may have come to fruition through the metaphysical practitioners seeking guidance through nature, and those who are more inclined to live simply and securely looking upon their practices with uncertainty and doubt, and possibly a hint of ego driven disdain.
Through the years, gem stones have been used by some to bring fortune, health, luck, among other things. Each stone is believed to hold a certain power, that when coveted and meditated on by the user will help to manifest this power into their life. It is an interesting practice, one I believe may have some essence of truth, but ultimately its power lies in the stone reminding the user of this particular power and there for keeping the idea in their mind, helping them manifest it for themself. Magic?
Possibly a magic of the will.. But these 'magic stones' I do think exist in another form..
Over the past century or so we have learned and utilized these magic rocks far more than ever in our history of man. We have furthered our strides into 'tech'. And this is where I believe the magic has taken a very incredible form, one that in many ways remains intangible, but has manifested greatly into almost every aspect of our lives and society.
When we think of computers, I believe most don't automatically think of magic, they think of science. Now, science as I've come to realize is really just our way of explaining magic, giving ourselves a road map to help us further our uses of it, and we have come quite a long way.
The computer. A device created by carefully intertwining natural materials in such a way that they interact with each other. A machine capable of solving equations and sending information instantly. This is the power of the rock. This is the power of nature. Like the mycelium below us creating an internet for the trees, we have created this for ourselves.
aluminum, antimony, arsenic, barium, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, gallium, gold, iron, lead, manganese, mercury, palladium, platinum, selenium, silver, and zinc. Mix these with plasticized oil and you get something beyond. An open and interactive channel if you will. Incredible really..
If these do not count for magical rocks, than I don't know what will. A new and miraculous material from space I would have to presume would be the only thing to give people a sense of magic, or at least something even further beyond ourselves. Ahh... magic.. does it exist? in what form will it take before we see it as such? These are some of the questions I have, but I believe the answers are as usual right in front of us, we just have yet to see them.
Thanks for reading!

Greetings!

I believe magic is alive and well all around us and is active in many forms.

If you ask some magicians, they will tell you it is the art and science of causing change to occur in conformity with will,

A mentor and friend of mine would say that to create is preform a magical act.

Others still will tell you that there is a distinct difference between the verb of magic and the state of being magical, just as a hypnotherapist will tell you that there is a difference between preforming hypnosis and being hypnotic.

I believe that there are only a few distinct types of people, and that how we experience life depends upon the state we chose to take. Look upon Plato and his allegory of the cave. There are those who whish to remain in the cave and those who chose to walk out of it.

Once free from the cave we are given an opportunity to begin to experience an opportunity to experience magic, or reality in the light, however there are those who don't like it, and run back to the cave to stay because it's more comfortable, there are those who to experience life and build a new reality for themselves (doing magic) but then there are the few who try to understand the light, and use it to bring enlightenment to those in the cave, (at times being hated for it) and to share it with those outside of it creating more magic through their magical nature. They begin to become identified with the light and in so doing they begin to become that magic.

How we experience the realities of life is based upon what we chose to allow ourselves to experience, what we chose to chase after, as well as what we do with what we find.

Magic is largely also perception. 700 years ago my lighter would have been magic, 300 years ago hypnosis was magic (it still is to some) and at one time the connected nature of all things, clearly understood by every priesthood in the world was magic. Today it is science, and quantum science. The mysteries are magic and once they are given explanations, for some reason they loose their magical value in the minds of many. Is the change work that occurs in the lives of my clients any less magical today than it was 300 years ago, I think not. But, each person will have their own view and it is the diversity that makes life beautiful.

Thank you for sparking some wonderful thought for the evening! Many blessings!
