Beginner Tips No. 10
I feel the number ten is a good place to conclude my beginner tips series and so I will wrap up the lessons I have covered. Before moving on to my more advanced practical magick series, please work through these beginner lessons several times until you feel very comfortable with them. Magick is referred to as a practice for a reason. Real magick and manifestations begin to flow once you get past the mechanics of a spell and are able to effectively partner up with the universal forces of power while in the trace like state. Also, another important concept to understand in the beginning is that the intentions you put into spell work will have a profound effect on your work. There is a fellow YouTuber (Frater Xavier) who discusses “form and force” in one of his paid courses which will really pull together your spell work so you get maximum results. Below is a summarization of his points on the concepts of form and force and how they impact spellwork. You can visit his youtube channel (mindandmagick) for lots of free videos on occult topics, but I also highly recommend the courses he sells as they are the real deal and reasonably priced.
Form
Form is created in magick through the use of your focus, concentration and visualization. This is the step where you see in great detail what it is you wish to accomplish in your mind. Going back to the meditation exercise I outlined in the first beginner tips post will be the most useful for developing this skill. Through the detailed visualization, you are giving a form to your intent. The next step is to put it into action with force.
Force
Force, basically put is the emotion you put into your work and works as the catalyst for manifestation. Keep in mind that you will always get out what you put in. Force cannot be faked, the genuine emotion which you feel is that which will fuel the manifestation. This is why it’s best not to do magick while angry because the results which manifest will not be those which you enjoy. Because it can often be difficult to reach the desired emotional state while still learning, it’s a good idea to set up your own emotional triggers which you can use to reach that state more quickly. For example thinking of a loved one or pet who passed away can quickly trigger you into an emotional state of sadness. I’ve found certain types of music to also be very effective in producing the correct emotional states needed for my work. You can also experiment with different scents or tastes if they happen to conjure up certain emotions in you.
I hope you have enjoyed this series. It’s been helpful for me to reflect on what has worked for me in the past and revisit these lessons. Magick is supposed to be fun, so work through the lessons, repeat them until you achieve success, but allow yourself the time to do so at a pace that you are comfortable.
Happy spellcasting folks!
