Bangladesh is a beautiful country. Birds have increased its beauty more and more. There are different types of bird in our country. They are different in color, size and habit. They are divided into many classes. We sleep at night and rise early in the morning hearing the sweet songs of different birds.
The Magpie (Copsychus saularis) is a small bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family turdidae, but now considered an old world flycatcher. The upper part of the male is deep blue like black; its wings are blackish brown with a prominent long white patch. Normally it's color like mixture of black and white.
The bird has been designated as the National Bird of Bangladesh. It is a widely used symbol in Bangladesh, appearing on currency notes, and a land mark in the city of Dhaka. Magpie is a small bird, but it's a beautiful bird. In the rural area of Bangladesh Magpie is frequently seen. The Magpie breeds during February-July.
The Magpie does not fly very high and likes stay close to the ground. They nest in tree hollows or niches in walls or Building. The female are stay busy to build nest after about a week the eggs are laid. Four or five eggs are laid. The female incubated the eggs 8 to 14 days. The nests are said to have a characteristic odor. Females spend more time on feeding the young than males. Males are stay quite aggressive, but they spend more time to protect their nest. Magpie were widely kept as cage birds for their singing abilities and for fighting.
Birds are our natural wealth. They are helpful and useful to us in many ways. Birds increase our natural beauty. They have performed to maintain our ecological balance. Therefore, we should not kill bird at random, and we should take proper care of them.
