Well I guess it's pretty much official now. The most beloved manga piracy site (and app) by all anime and manga/manhua/manhwa lovers, MangaRock will be shutting down this month. T_T
They have already removed the MangaRock app from google play store this week and will remove the app from the app store for ios users this week. (Since their servers are still up and running, one can still fully use the app if they have already installed the MangaRock app before.)
According to their timeline (to which one can read here: https://mrcomics.com/ ; which also explains in full detail why they are shutting down the site as well as the app's history and birth), the MangaRock site is set to shut down next week. T_T
From the looks of it, the MangaRock team is now planning to operate legally by taking the first step of rebranding the platform into MR Comics. which they plan to show only "official contents" (with permission to authors or content creators) instead of resorting to pirated scanlations since it is said that almost $2 billion dollars were lost from authors/content creators because of MangaRock.
I for one personally am saddened by this news. While I do not condone piracy, the MangaRock app has been my saving grace for years now. I used to read to read mangas on websites and it is such a pain in the *ss to keep track of ALL the mangas you were reading.
Imagine if you are reading over 50 mangas, you need to manually check ALL mangas on the site if they have released a new update. With the mangarock app you can just wait for a notification that your favourite manga has released a new update.
The app also has the coolest feature of allowing to download multiple chapters and even has an "auto-download" feature on your favourite mangas. I read over 100+ mangas and have already set close to 50 to auto-download whenever a new chapter is out. Just thinking that I may have to manually do all these when the app is gone is already tiring me out. XD
Fucking hell... well, their reason for doing it is justified, but still. Kissmanga is decent, but mangarock was the best one... And the thing is, I don't mind buying manga at all, I just prefer to read some of them before buying them. As in, read the first few chapters, see if I like it, and then buy the manga physically.
