There is a lot of mango in the mango gardens of Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon. The tree hanging on the tree is now bunch of bamboo mango Though the Gila Amir has already suffered a slight loss in rock rains, the farmers are hopeful of the quantity of mango in the trees. And if there is no major natural disaster then the farmers will be financially benefited financially.
According to Upazila Agriculture Office, there are mango gardens in 8,000 hectares of land in Pirganj upazila. Most of these are the Ampali species. There are also Fazli, Gopalbhog, Langra, Bhaduri, Kshirsapat, Avarina, Cotta, Surya Pi, Mallika and Thai cast mango. Mango farming has started growing on a commercial basis, in recent years the mango yield has increased in this upazila. The garden owners and the garden lease holders are busy collecting the mangoes in the gardens, before the arrival of the mango trader tree in the garden, with the advice of the Department of Agriculture. However, in the beginning of the Baishakh, there is a severe drought in Mukul and Mango peak during frequent storm and rock rain. Even after that, the very happy farmers of the village are being noticed in the present time.
Many people including Rajuur Rahman Raju, Khairul Islam, Abu Hamid, Milon Haque and Moslem Uddin of Narayanur village of the upazila said that more than any of the previous times the mangoes have been more than happy. But due to rain and windy conditions in the first place, the amar kali fell down. However, if there is any disaster in the future, then the farmers will be financially benefited. And after a few days the raw mangoes that are hanging on the tree will start to rotate.
By the end of May, various types of mango markets will be filled with gopalabhog, diphosapat, langra, milked and olive groves. President of Pirganj Upazila Mango Garden Owners Association Abu Jahid Ibnul Ikram Jewel said that the garden owners are happy in the amount of fruits produced in Amrapali mango garden in this upazila. But it will be more happy if its price is a little better. Because the farmers of the area did not get good prices last year. For this, we have to create an americ market. Need of government and non-governmental initiatives to set up industries based in Amu based area.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Abul Kalam Azad said, there are 18 to 20 tonnes of mango production per hectare in the region. The weather is still favorable. Expectation of mango seasoning is expected to increase the production as compared to the previous year.
