National-award winning actress, the feisty Kangana Ranaut will be seen playing the courageous Rani Laxmibai in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi this year. Directed by Telugu film-maker Krish, the movie is hands down one of the highly-anticipated films of 2018. While it was initially reported that the period drama shall arrive in cinemas on April 27, a recent report by a leading newspaper suggests the release has been delayed by four months. According to a report by DNA, Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika shall now release on August 3. Speculations were rife that the magnum opus has been postponed due to the fact that it involves heavy VFX, but a source quoted by DNA states otherwise. Rani Laxmibai was a freedom fighter and thus, it only seemed apt for the makers that the project is screened in the month of our Independence. “Everything is going on track. Shooting is currently on in Alsisar, Rajasthan. They will complete it today and tomorrow onwards, filming will start in Bikaner where it will continue until the end of this month. With this, the movie’s shoot will also be wrapped up. There is ample time for post-production. They could have released the film on April 27, but they decided to come in August because it is the month of our Independence. Rani Lakshmibai’s battle against the Britishers was the first fight for freedom, so looking at the emotion, the call was taken to release it in August,” DNA quoted a source as saying.
