The best newbie posts curated during Newbieresteemday-week and 2 posts you simply nééd to read!
Newbieresteemday - Week
A little over a week ago I launched my ‘#newbieresteemday -week’, in which curators could nominate quality posts made by newbies.
I promised to resteem those nominated posts of which I thought they were of good quality. I also promised to reward the people who nominated those posts.
To be honest, the initiative wasn’t a very big success, from which I learned I should make some more tweaks to the rules, if I want the next edition to be more successful.
Still, some great posts have been discovered by my fellow curators and myself.
The Curator’s & Their Nominated Posts
The first one to nominate a post was @magicalmoonlight.
She nominated a post by @tryskele called ‘Mindful or MIND FULL?? - What is Mindfulness (Part 2)’, the 2nd part of a mini-series about mindfulness.
I was instantly attracted to the article, because it was about the fact that your thoughts have been conditioned by past events, which leads to a conditioned reaction to events occuring in the present, and how to learn to break such circles.
It also discussed how negative and hurtful thoughts can get stuck in your head, creating a vicious circle because we’re judging ourselves for having those thoughts. With the article @tryskele managed to materialize a part of my personal struggle in life.
Meanwhile, she has already published part 3 (‘MINDFUL or Mind Full - ON THE GO self soothing - Part 3’) and part 4 (‘Mindful or Mind FULL - Meditation and Coping - Part 4’) of here mini-series, of which I also think they’re very powerful.
The second article was curated by @jan23com, fairly new himself, but because of the lack of other curated articles by members with a +40 reputation, I bended the rules a bit and accepted his nomination.
The article ‘DO WE HAVE A FUTURE, or are we building a future for the power that be now.’ by @brayias is a bit harder to read, but touches the points we have to deal with if we want to make a better future for ourselves.
Congratulations to both curators @magicalmoonlight and @jan23com, you’ve both won a @steembasicincome share and a 3SBD reward.
Because there were only 2 articles that passed the selection, I decided to also reward both authors with a @steembasicincome share.
A membership of @steembasicincome will basically give you 1 share in the initiative, which will give you a small upvote on all your posts. The more shares you get, the more this upvote will be worth. You can read more about the @Steembasicincome initiative here.
My Own Curations
Again because of the low number of nominations I went out there myself, looking for promising newbies. During my search, I stumbled upon an article written by @pendul.
‘Kora Network - An Infrastructure for Inclusive Financial Systems is a well-written, informative article about the Kora Network and the KNT token sale.
Congratulations @pendul! You too have received a membership to @basicincome.
Must-Read Articles
Next two articles were resteemed by me outside of the competition, but still I want to mention them because both are a must-read.
‘Amended: Repost of "Friends of Gondor" Launch!’ is the first one.
@friendsofgondor is a brand new initiative, set up by - who else - @davemccoy, and is meant to be ‘a peaceful way to support @fulltimegeek’ and the casualties that are hurt in the ongoing flagging war.
In the article, he shows you how you can help out ‘the good guys’ without risking to get hurt during the whale-war yourself.
Follow @friendsofgondor for the latest updates.
The second article I’d like you to read is one by @markrmorrisjr: ‘What if We Could Put a Post to the Top of Trending WITHOUT Buying Votes? Here's How I Think We Could Do it!’ and the update ‘Minnow Votes Project, Getting More Organic Votes on Steemit To Counteract the Bots! (Project Update, Please READ!)’
In these articles, you’ll find information about an experiment @markrmorrisjr is setting up. In this experiment, he wants to use the power of numbers to get a post to the trending page without paying for bots.
Although I have my personal doubts about his motivation for setting up the experiment, I still think it is something we can all learn a lot from. By taking part in the experiment, we’ll discover information and techniques we’ll be able to use ourselves in the future.
This experiment can only be successful if a lot of people support it, so be sure to ceck out the Minnow Votes Project
That was it for this edition of #newbieresteemday - week.
I’ll probably set up a next edition soon, so stay tuned!!

Funnily enough I was just talking to someone about when we are children and how our minds change when we get to adult hood. Losing things like imagination this will be interesting.
