so the time has come to harvest a few of my many plants such a great time. the smoke was amazing and now i have few more to finish and a batch of sour jack,purple kush and charlottes web on the way
Do you happen to know what % amber the trichomes were? (Most easily checked with a 30x-60x magnification) I wrote a blog post on checking for optimal ripeness for harvest. :)
Do You Use a Lot of Caffeine Throughout Your Days?
Past 15% amber and it's overripe for me, starting to get sleepy head. I like to harvest when I get the full effects of the cannabis, the effects last for several hours, and there's zero sleepiness involved. Wide awake, without caffeine.
i exagerated a bit but different strains I go different amounts . sometimes I harvest when only see few amber trichomes, its all experimentation for me been many years going at it but il be learning new stuff the rest of my life, the internet is good but I only trust myself and what I see, I don't smoke till the evening and purely for relaxation an medicating so sleepiness is what I like. how can u tell its 15% like if u look at one part of the plant through the scope do ya just count how many per glance??
and yes, essentially you count 20 trichomes on the flowers themselves, not sugar or fan leaves. Count the amber in 20 in a few places, to get an accurate assessment.
1 amber in 20 is 5%, 2 is 10%, 3 is 15%. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. As my kid would say. ;)

i wait till 60 % are cloudy and about 40% amber
