Chocolope - Marijuana Strain Review and Smoke Report *Great Strain for Depression/Anxiety*

in #marijuana8 years ago

Type: Sativa
Lineage: Chocolate Thai x Cannalope Haze

When first inspecting this sativa strain at my local dispensary I had to ask the budtender if they had been using some chocolate during storage to give it the smell. Of course she denied any such trickery was at play. I couldn't help but be surprised that I actually smelled a chocolate undertone in that earthy aroma.

On first inspection it wasn't the frostiest I had ever seen but still had plenty of amber trichomes. The bud was surprisingly dense for it's weight and easily ground to a fine consistency for rolling with. This is not the stickiest of strains so rolling a tight joint didn't result in clumping and air flow issues while smoking.

While the strain originally smelled earthy with notes of chocolate prior to smoking, the resulting smoke did not share these characteristics. The taste was fruity and completely lacked the earthy and chocolate tastes. The melon genetics lending it that fruity flavor was a pleasant surprise.

The high was a classic sativa in its effects. Very cerebral and euphoric without much sedation or body buzz. If I had to give the high just one word to describe it, it would be "calming". This strain is definitely great for anti-anxiety daytime smoke.

While Chocolope is by no means a weak strain it is not the most powerful of sativas. That is not necessarily a bad thing as ultra potency is not always the desirable for every situation. I'm going to give Chocolope a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

A great daytime sativa for those looking a subtle calming high.

From Leafly:

DNA Genetics developed Chocolope by crossing Chocolate Thai with Cannalope Haze to create their homage to the Chocolate strains of the 1980s. The hefty sativa buds give earthy, sweet coffee flavors that provide a dreamy, cerebral effect. Consumers report a strong, euphoric mental shift that is great when coping with depression or stress.

Great review my friend

Californian OG - that's the best relaxant from anything :D I should write a post about it!

Fantastic post. Your photos are outstanding. I really appreciated being able to see the details of the plant material itself....especially the trichomes.

Chocolope is a great strain, that delivers a powerful punch. +1

Never heard of this kind, but it sounds and looks good, so I would like to taste that!
Thanks for making me a little wiser
