Marketing is a means or act of identifying people's (consumers) needs and wants and then proffering solution to it.It involves contacting with consumers in person or via internet platforms to know what they really need then marketing helps the production segment in producing these wants.Marketing makes production easier and also makes it easy to distribute the various products to where they are needed.Hence,Marketing is the back bone of every firm or organization.
However,marketing involves a lot of techniques,steps,methods ,approaches and startegies in which it is carried out depending on the organisation.Some of the approaches involves personal contact,competitors approach,etc.. Marketing makes use of the consumers a lot to get the actual want needed in a target market,this is because the consumers are viewed as the king of the market as regarded in Economics,the consumers have the power to change the market economy,hence,they must be put into utmost consideration.
Marketing however,can't get to meet all its consumers in its target market just via personal contact therefore, it uses other means such as advertising,sales promotion,direct marketing and public relations.All these means mentioned are forms of marketing communication a firm uses to get to its targeted consumers. Advertising is used to create awareness of both new and existing product ,just to make customers aware and ready to buy the organisation's product which in turn satisfy the conusemers needs.Sales promotion is used to create more demands of a product by either reducing the price of the product or by increasing the quantity of the product at the same old price,this motivates the consumers to buy their needs at a low price.Direct Marketing is a direct connection with carefully selected individuals(consumers) to both obtain immediate response &cultivate lasting customer relationship through the use of mail,fax,telephone,Internet and other tools to communicate directly with special customers.This is not made to the general public just to selected customers,.Public relations refers to building a good company's image by having a good relationship with its customers and also obtaining favourable publicity.So, therefore any of these mentioned marketing communications can be used depending on the organisational preference .
In conclusion,marketing makes life easier and stress free,,it makes consumers get their needs how they want it,when they want it,where they want it,the price at which they want it,the quality and quantity they want it via the marketing mix which are regarded as the 4Ps(Product,Place,Price and Promotion) .Hence,I can solely say Marketing is the backbone of the world.
