SpaceX CEO Elon Musk uploaded a spaceship photograph named SpaceX Crew Dragon to his Instagram account and personal twitter Monday, May 21, 2018. The plane was planned to transport humans to Mars.
Since the founding of SpaceX in 2002, the company is aimed at developing a technology that enables humans to live on other planets. One of his first missions is to launch to Mars in 2022.
"The purpose of this first mission is to ensure water resources and identify hazards around," wrote the SpaceX website. Then the second mission is scheduled in 2024.
The ambition to make a plane for an expedition to the Red Planet 56 miles from Earth, not just this time. Previously there was a spacecraft scheduled to go to Mars. Both manned and unmanned aircraft, these 4 other aircraft among them are sent to Mars.
Orion
Orion is part of the NASA program, the United States Space Institute. The spacecraft is still in development is claimed to be able to deliver humans to Mars.
The technology applied to the Orion aircraft continues to be developed. More than 100 parts of the Orion space capsule will be made with a three-dimensional printer. This technology is an important key to human transport to Mars.In order for the technology to continue to be developed, NASA performs several manned aircraft missions. Quoted from the official website of NASA, nasa.gov, mission interspersed the moon into one that aka done. The three-week mission is scheduled to depart in the early 2020s.
Schiaparelli, Exomars mission
The Schiaparelli spacecraft was flown in an Exomars mission in 2016. The European plane landed on the surface of Mars on October 18, 2016, to test a robot that will search for past and future life signs. The mission also aims to examine the important gases closely related to life on Earth, such as methane. This is Europe's second attempt to land the plane to Mars. The previous program failed to run by the British in the mission Beagle 2 in 2003.
The main contractor in the program is Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales and Finmeccanica. The cost of the ExoMars mission is estimated at 1.3 billion euros ($ 1.4 billion).
Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport (InSight)InSight is NASA's latest mission to explore the planet Mars and was launched on May 5, 2018. The aircraft departed from Vanderberg Air Force Base, California, United States using Atlas V rocket. If on schedule, InSight will land on Mars on November 26, 2018.
Previously, NASA has also sent a robot to Mars called rover Curiosity. In contrast to Curiosity, InSight will probe deeper under the Martian surface.
One of InSight's role is to record the seismic waves generated by the sequence of earthquakes occurring on Mars. It is useful to know how a other rocky pelanet, including the Earth can be formed.
Mars Orbiter Mission, MOM
In this mission, an unmanned drone made in India for the first time went to Mars. This aircraft serves to map the surface of the Red Planet and test its technology for the development of India's next space mission.
The robotic aircraft, named Mars Orbiter Mission, took off in 2014 using an Indian-made rocket from the Sriharikota area. The launch of the MOM is also known as Mangalyaan (Mars-craft). The progress of space technology in India is spurring competition among Asian countries such as China and Japan.
