Earth's Rapa Nui

in #mars6 months ago (edited)

We are to Earth no different than the Rapa Nui people have been to the Easter Island, happily "cutting trees and building statues", oblivious that it leads to our extinction.

Going multi-planetary gives our species a chance.

Here's Elon trying to explain why it is important that we allocate some resources to colonizing Mars.

I believe that, confronted to rapid climate change, we should rebalance our efforts away from "cutting GHG emissions" and toward creating a base on the Moon from where to prepare the colonization of Mars. That doesn't mean we shouldn't continue investing in the former. It just means that we should put a lot more political emphasis on the latter.

Sort:

Well, every civilization find their own destruction, is only time between the splendor to the collapse...

But if people are really able to leave their ambitious the Earth could be safe again... I want to believe it is possible.

I don't think it is. We are collectively not coordinated enough

Maybe occurs like in the movie Wally , and then, people note that take care of earth is more important! Have a great week 😊

Well, the risky thing is that once the tipping point is reached, things can go downhill so quickly, we might not have the time to respond

Wow
Such an amazing place. Wait, you meant colonizing the Mars planet?

That seems absurd! I won't live on the Mars... 😁

😂 Good! Believe it or not, there are already A LOT more candidates than places for the first flight (10 to 15 years from now)
