I thought the only way to get rid of YouTube ads was to shell out the $15/month...

You can block certain ads on YouTube with ad blockers yes, brave does a pretty good job of it

brave browser - add blocker on - no adds (before - firefox with ad blocker on)
I don't do discord nowadays (hate the back room politicking thats rife on here, and want no part of it)
