Marvelous Tales #14 - [Dark and cold]

in #marveloustales7 years ago (edited)

On the nothern edge of the country of Dreamland there was one place where even king knights and soldiers avoid to go. In was a small village in the deep ravine between high snowy ridges. That's how Despairvill looked like. People from nearby villages sometimes came to the edges of ridge from the southern part and looked down on these semi-abandoned dark houses.

Everybody knew: there was no sunny days there. Day after day, dark clouds hung over this place. The cold wind blew all the time. A year went by the year and the inhabitants of the surrounding villages forbade children to walk even nearby the Despairvill.

And one day traveller came to the one of that villages. In one of the houses he found a lodging for the night. On the next day he went for a walk and saw Despairvill from the distance.
-What it is this gloomy village?- he asked the locals.
-Oh, it's Despairvill, dangerous place. Don't go there! - was the reply.

At that moment, the last fireplace in one of the houses in Despaivill went out. Now there was no smoke on even one house.

-We need to help the inhapitants of Despaivill - the traveller decided. Otherwise they will freeze! We need to bring them firewood for furnaces!
-You're crazy guy! Our grandfathers and grandgrandfathers bequeathed us to stay away of these places!

But brave traveller didn't listen to coward locals. He went to the forest and made a big bundle of firewood.
After that he went straight to Despairvill. There were few people there. That people there were unhappy, weak and hungry.
They were so surprised and inspired when see a big bundle of firewood. They sincerely thank the traveller.

The traveller didn't understand the situation. He asked Despairvill people:
-Why aren't you cooperate with people from villages nearby?
The reply was simple: Our grandmothers and grandgrandmothers bequeathed us to stay away of these awful people...
