MASTERNODE DEBUG STEPS

Following are the most common errors for masternode not starting

Cannot alocate vim

  1. Check if you have the right TX and INDEX in your masternode.conf file on your local wallet ( Windows-QT, Linux-QT, MacOS-QT ). The easiest way to find that file is to go to Settings > Show AutoBackups that will open the backups folder and go one steps backward.

  2. Unlock your wallet if encrypted and make sure you uncheck Only For Staking

Blocked Port

One of the most common issues is the 5353 port being blocked. You can check your port on https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports

If it's closed on linux you can open this using the following command

ufw allow 5353/tcp

Remember that a port will show open on that website only if nihilod is running so after opening the ports also do the instruction from Masternode doesn't start or time stays 00:00

Masternode doesn't start or time stays 00:00

Login into your VPS and type the following commands:

nihilod stop

Now wait a few seconds

nihilod -daemon -reindex

Now keep checking you masternode status till you get Status Code 2 with the following command

nihilod masternode status

After you get status 2 then start the masternode again from your windows wallet and check again on the VPS. You should now get Status Code 9 which means the masternode has started.

MASTERNODE STATUS CODE MEANING

This is what every status code means when you type nihilod masternode status

0 - MASTERNODE NOT PROCESSED

1 - MASTERNODE IS CAPABLE

2 - MASTERNODE NOT CAPABLE

3 - MASTERNODE STOPPED

4 - MASTERNODE INPUT TOO NEW

6 - MASTERNODE PORT NOT OPEN

7 - MASTERNODE PORT OPEN

8 - MASTERNODE SYNC IN PROCESS

9 - MASTERNODE REMOTELY ENABLED

LOCK THE COLLATERAL ADDRESSES FOR MASTERNODES

By default the wallet won't lock the collateral addresses used for masternodes but this can be easily done by adding into nihlo.conf the following option.

mnconflock=1

The easiest way to find that file is to go to Settings > Show AutoBackups that will open the backups folder and go one steps backward.

After you added that option you will need to restart your wallet.

WALLET WON'T SYNC

If your wallet won't sync you can do the following steps

Add nodes

Go to #addnodes channel and add those nodes to you nihilo.conf file.

The easiest way to find that file is to go to Settings > Show AutoBackups that will open the backups folder and go one steps backward.

Clean the Nihilo Folder

If wallet still won't sync after adding nodes you can clean the Nihlo folder. That means you need to delete eveything except wallet.dat, nihilo.conf and masternodes.conf.

The easiest way to find that file is to go to Settings > Show AutoBackups that will open the backups folder and go one steps backward.

DO NOT DELETE the following files: wallet.dat, nihilo.conf and masternodes.conf.
