Hip Hop memoirs

Some of you may be familiar with Wu Tang Clan?

It was 2011 and at the time I was doing lots of shows to 10 people audiences, and some of the most fun I've had. Driving my shitty little car all over New Zealand with good company. I had been doing a few gigs with a friend of mine when he asked if I wanted to be opening act for GZA of Wu Tang - not quite believing it -I agreed cause when the fuck do opportunities like that come up?
The show was to be in a place here called Ohakune - just think small, beautiful lots of snow and giant carrots (haha)
We all piled in to the people mover and made the trip down (about a 5 hour drive) amazing scenery & again, good ass company. We arrived and chilled til it was time to perform. It all felt pretty surreal being in this small beautiful town waiting to see GZA & DJ Mathematics. We did our sets then waited for GZA! Getting to see him live was one of those memories that make you say 5 years later "fuck, that shit really happened"
Then if that wasn't cool enough we went backstage with them. I sat there like a stunned mullet. These were people who's music we grew up on. GZA is a fuckin awesome human - He uses Hip Hop to teach science. And is the man at both. As we were walking outside his DJ looked at me and called me "Wu Mami" to which I responded in the dorkiest giggle and walked very fast out the back door.
Then If that shit wasn't enough their hotels were right next to ours and another NZ Hip Hop group called the Villains. ALL of us grew up on Wu Tang then GZA comes over to the Villains hotel & there's a cypher going down - he joins in chats to a few of us then heads back to his room.
5 years later and I still buzz out about it.
