What about smaller numbers such as 25?
How would we calculate the square of such a number?
25 to 100 is 75, so by this logic, 25 - 75 = -50 and 5 * 5 = 25
-5025? I don't think so.

Interestingly enough there is a Sutra specific to squaring numbers ending on a 5. It 's called the By one more Sutra So if you look at 25 the number ends on a 5, but you are more interested in the preceding number. It works as follow:
25 Squared = ?
So the number before the 5 is 2 (and you need to add 1)
25 Squared =
2 X 3 = 6 and 5 X 5 =25
So answer is 625
Another example:
35 Squared = ?
35 Squared = 3 X 4 and 5 X 5
12 and 25
Answer 1 225
Thank you!
Is there anything else that applies to 2 digit numbers? This is very interesting.
Do you recommend any website where I could learn more about it?
Yes there are many more interesting things. Have a look at the followig site! Vedic Maths

Add insight and knowledge👍great, @jacor
Thanks @meteor78
This one's new to me.
25 squared
=(20+5)(30-5)
=20(30)-5(20)+5(30)-5(5)
=100(2X3)+5(-20+30)-5(5)
=100(2X3)+5(10)-5(5)
=100(2X3)+5(5)
Amazing.
@jacor Consider yourself followed. :-)
Thanks @gikitiki :)
